We are seeking an experienced disability practitioner to join us at University of the Arts London (UAL) and play an integral role as part of our innovative Disability Service.
Job Responsibility:
contributing to achieving high-quality advice delivery for disabled students
supporting the university to meet its duties under the Equality Act 2010
working closely with other Advice Managers to oversee the work of the Disability Advice team
developing effective procedures and realising the disability strategic plan
working with a student caseload, identifying and coordinating individual adjustments that remove disabling barriers to study
providing consultancy for colleagues on inclusive teaching and learning practices
Requirements:
first degree, or the Certificate in applied Advice Work, NVQ Level III Advice and guidance, NADP Accreditation, or equivalent qualification
experience of professional advice work and line management
thorough understanding of the social model of disability, the Equality Act (2010) and how this applies to Higher and Further Education contexts
strong communicator who can present information accessibly to a range of audiences
ability to collaborate effectively and work successfully as a team
ability to form positive working relationships with colleagues and students
