The Senior Director, Product Operating Model Capability leads the ongoing maturation of Marriott’s product management function. This role sets the enterprise capability strategy, defines measurable maturity outcomes, and partners with senior leaders across business and technology to embed product thinking into how we plan, prioritize, fund, and deliver value. Reporting to the Managing Vice President, Portfolio Planning & Product Delivery, this leader manages a team of product management coaches and acts as a strategic advisor—using influence, credibility, and executive communication to drive adoption of the Product Operating Model at scale.
Job Responsibility
Set and evolve the enterprise product management capability strategy (skills, practices, leader routines) aligned to Marriott’s Product Operating Model and business priorities
Define a product maturity model and dashboards
use insights to target interventions and track adoption and outcomes
Influence senior leaders to strengthen product decision-making and embed product expectations into portfolio, funding, and governance forums
Lead, and develop a team of product management coaches
set standards and ensure consistent, high-impact product coaching and enablement across the enterprise
Own and evolve the enterprise product management development program (curriculum, onboarding, and progression) and deliver learning journeys through workshops, playbooks, and coaching—in partnership with Learning & Development, Global Technology, and other teams as relevant
Coach and advise product and technology leaders to improve strategic clarity, product storytelling, and empowered-team leadership
Establish and evolve operating mechanisms that reinforce the Product Operating Model (OKR/QBR rhythms, decision rights, intake, and portfolio feedback loops)
Provide executive transparency into adoption and value realization
translate insights into recommendations and drive continuous improvement by removing systemic impediments
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or related area or equivalent work experience, education, training, or certifications
10+ years in product management/product operations, operating model, or transformation leadership roles in large, matrixed organizations
Proven people leader with experience managing and developing teams consisting of enablement roles or similar
Deep knowledge of product strategy, discovery, outcome-based planning (OKRs), prioritization, and product delivery—able to translate concepts into repeatable routines
Demonstrated success influencing senior leaders and driving decisions without formal authority
strong executive communication and facilitation skills
Nice to have
Operating model design, strategy/consulting, or large-scale transformation experience, with a track record of facilitating executive decisions
Experience building adoption systems (learning journeys, playbooks, communities of practice) and using maturity/value metrics to drive sustained behavior change
