The Senior Director role offers an opportunity for a dynamic, innovative, and patient-centered leader to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Patient Logistics & System Command Center—a centralized, systemwide operational hub responsible for patient flow, bed placement, transfer center operations, virtual care services, emergency clinical communications, and logistics, with real-time operational decision‑making. This role integrates patient progression and throughput, remote patient care programs (central telemetry, virtual sitting, virtual nursing), EMS/transport coordination, and systemwide situational awareness to enhance capacity management, safety, and clinical efficiency.
Job Responsibility
Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Patient Logistics & System Command Center
Oversee patient flow, bed placement, transfer center operations, virtual care services, emergency clinical communications, and logistics with real-time operational decision-making
Integrate patient progression and throughput, remote patient care programs (central telemetry, virtual sitting, virtual nursing), EMS/transport coordination, and systemwide situational awareness
Ensure standardization of workflows, predictive analytics adoption, and consistent operational leadership across all facilities
Requirements
Master's degree in clinical health related field, nursing preferred
Current RN license in the state of VA (or ability to obtain), preferred
Certifications for ideal candidates: NEA-BC, CENP, FACHE, Lean Six Sigma, project/change management
Seven years of progressive healthcare operations experience, with 3-5 years in leadership managing pt flow, bed management, transfer center operations, or command center functions
Experience with centralized operations or technology-enabled visibility programs and partnering across nursing, operations, ancillary teams, and clinical leadership
Deep knowledge of throughput operations, bed placement criteria, transfer workflows, EMTALA, virtual care, telemetry, and remote observation programs
Knowledge of EPIC highly preferred
Strong analytical and operational decision-making skills
