We are looking for an experienced Senior Director of Proposal Management to join our client in Bethesda! The Senior Director of Proposal Management spearheads the strategy, quality, and delivery of all Business Development proposals. By leading a high-performing team and a scalable operating model, this role empowers VPs of Business Development to prioritize client relationships and win strategies. The Senior Director ensures that every submittal is elevated through rigorous standards, delivering world-class proposals that consistently meet the highest levels of competitive excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Strategic Leadership: Leads the proposal team in creating differentiated B2B submittals (RFPs, RFEIs, and presentations) by translating client intelligence and win strategies into compelling narratives
Process Architecture: Establishes departmental protocols for intake and content gathering to ensure organized, efficient cross-functional engagement with Legal, Finance, and Operations
Operational Oversight: Manages high-stakes, complex proposal projects, including resource allocation, project plans, timelines, and budgets
Quality Assurance: Defines requirements for research, design, and writing to deliver world-class proposals while conducting final quality audits
Risk Management: Monitors submission timelines and proactively resolves capacity or coordination issues before they impact deadlines
Team Development: Supervises proposal staff and project managers, assigning roles based on project needs and developing team capabilities based on leadership feedback
Resource Management: Directs in-house and external creative resources to meet strict deadlines and high quality standards within budget
Continuous Improvement: Implements organizational tools and systems to track customer trends and increase project management efficiencies
Requirements:
Requires a minimum of 10 years of combined education and professional experience
Must include at least 5 years leading a professional team focused on business development proposal or project management
Requires 10 years of experience developing and delivering creative content and proposal management
Industry Knowledge: B2B
In-depth training in the creative process and business development project management
Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign) and MS Project
Advanced skills in creating high-impact presentations using PowerPoint, Keynote, or Prezi
Training in photographic art direction
active photography skills are preferred
Possesses the business intelligence and strategic mindset to understand long-term proposal implications and advance organizational goals
A proven history of anticipating the needs of complex stakeholders and diverse employee populations
