Job Description:

The Senior Director, Donor Prospecting and Fundraising will serve as a key driver of GoodPower’s fundraising strategy, with a focus on philanthropies, individuals and corporate partners. This is a hands-on frontline fundraising role focused specifically on new donor prospects. Responsibilities include: identifying and cultivating new prospects, generating new leads, managing a portfolio of high-value funders, and conducting solicitation and stewardship activities to secure 7- and 8-figure investments that advance our mission across our family of entities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Generate and grow a new portfolio of 30-50 high value donors
  • Generate new leads and prospects for the CEO and greater Development Team
  • Lead cultivation and solicitation strategies to secure and grow gifts
  • Conduct donor meetings, make solicitations, and close gifts
  • Develop and implement the new prospect pipeline
  • Conduct research, prospect mapping, and pipeline management
  • Partner with leadership and board members to activate networks
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with funder program officers
  • Coordinate high-level funder briefings, site visits, and events
  • Ensure timely reporting and stewardship
  • Work closely with program staff to stay informed about organizational priorities
  • Partner with communications and development colleagues to craft donor-facing materials
  • Contribute to the fundraising strategy to achieve annual revenue targets

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in frontline fundraising, major gift solicitation, and donor relations
  • Experience in climate, renewable energy, or related issue areas required
  • Proven success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing $1M+ gifts, especially from new prospective donors
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic thinker with experience aligning program goals with funder priorities
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and highly organized
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, challenging environment
