Job Description

We are seeking an industry veteran to serve as the Senior Director, Critical Environments, holding ultimate accountability for the strategy, resilience, and operational excellence of our client’s mission-critical portfolio. In this executive-level role, you will lead a large-scale, diverse organization comprised of over 100+ professionals, overseeing five distinct functional verticals: Critical Environment Operations, Lab Planning, Engineering, Operations Command Centers (FORT or NOC), and Operations & Innovation/Technology.

Job Responsibility

  • Executive Leadership & Organizational Strategy: Manage and mentor a high-performing organization of 100+ staff members through direct supervision of five specialized Directors
  • Foster a 'No Ego' culture of accountability and collaboration across diverse teams
  • Serve as the primary strategic partner to senior client stakeholders
  • Present complex technical and data concepts as clear business strategies to the C-Suite
  • Define the competency requirements and training standards for the entire critical environments organization
  • Operational Resilience & 24/7 Command: Oversee the Director of Critical Operations and Senior Director of Engineering & Ops Center to ensure 100% uptime in critical operations
  • Serve as the ultimate escalation point for major incidents
  • Lead executive communication, mitigation strategy, and systemic Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Direct the strategy of the 24/7 Operations Center
  • Technical Governance & Engineering Excellence: Oversee comprehensive design reviews for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) topology
  • Partner with leadership to forecast end-of-life infrastructure replacements and lead the Capital Renewal Program
  • Drive enterprise-wide standards for SOPs and MOPs
  • Innovation, Data & Future-Readiness: Oversee the Director of Operations and Innovation to define the vision for 'next-level tools' and data-driven platforms
  • Champion the use of cloud architecture and AI opportunities
  • Lead transformation engineering initiatives
  • Strategic Planning & Space Management: Oversee the Labs Planning Director to manage strategic moves, adds, and changes (MAC) and data integrity efforts
  • Maintain high-level reporting on all capacity thresholds (Power, Cooling, Space)
  • Ensure the alignment of space planning with engineering realities

Requirements

  • 20+ years of progressive experience in Critical Environments (Data Centers, Semiconductor, Pharma, or R&D Labs), covering operations, engineering, planning, and innovation
  • 15+ years of direct people management experience, specifically leading large technical teams (50-100+ staff) and 'managing managers' in a multi-site, matrixed environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical), Facilities Management, or a related technical field is required
  • A Master’s degree or MBA is highly preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or PMP is preferred

  • Drive Workflow & Training development: Design training to qualify apheresis and treatment centers, leading treatment center activation and certification processes and providing ongoing operational oversight post-activation
  • Quality & Compliance oversight: Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (FACT, AABB), managing quality records (deviations, CAPAs, change controls) and overseeing the end-to-end process for patient apheresis and product delivery. Ensure COC/COI and assist in the implementation of ISBT-128 ST-018, as needed
  • Partner with Quality and Patient Operations team to build a robust treatment center network including center selection, qualification, training and ongoing support. Lead field team providing onsite support
