Job Description

Senior Director, Card Risk Controls is responsible for driving Card Risk Controls Strategy and transformation as part of our Card Risk Enhancement Program. As a leader, you will be responsible for partnering across functional groups in shaping strategic plans, designing and implementing improvements, and developing world - class risk management practices that create a competitive advantage for Card.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and drive transformative initiatives that enable efficiency and value to our businesses, helping drive controls automation with a focus on business value
  • Manage and develop a team of control design experts, control testers, analysts, and project managers
  • Drive transformation of how we manage our Controls program, shifting left to prevention and ‘always on monitoring’
  • Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: Technology, Operations, Risk Management, Product and others to drive improvement in quality, customer service, and profitability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 5 years of Risk Management, Financial Operations, Consulting or Business Analytics experience
  • At least 7 years of experience working in the financial services industry
  • At least 5 years of experience creating data driven communications for executive level audiences
  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience
  • At least 5 years of driving process improvement

Nice to have

  • Masters Degree in Business Management, Accounting, or Economics
  • Operational familiarity with Commercial lending and Treasury products
  • At least 10 years of experience as a Risk Manager or Assurance within the financial services or tech industry
  • Proficiency with data analytics tools including (but not limited to) Excel and Tableau
  • At least 8 years of experience in people management
  • Proficiency with structuring slides and presentations in order to convey risk information
  • Previous consulting experience is a plus

  • Oversee the strategy and execution of Neo’s one or more of Neo’s consumer credit risk functions in order to effectively enable sound strategies to manage risk and profitability
  • Identify opportunities to grow our lending businesses, including growth and optimization of existing products, new card launches, and new lending product development
  • Work closely with Credit Risk and Collections internal counterparties (Products, Tech, Growth, Finance) to ensure that policies and strategies are aligned with Neo’s corporate goals
  • Develop and oversee the creation of credit risk and lending models, tools, systems, and processes to enable effective and scalable decision-making throughout the company, providing critical risk information and insights to all relevant stakeholders (Board, investors, CEO, senior management team, etc.)
