The Strategic Operations Director will assist in the design of the manufacturing growth and capacity expansion that supports the BAE Systems Integrated Business Plan. This position will report to the C4ISR Business Area Operations Director and will also serve as the Global Process Owner to drive process standardization across the C4ISR Business Area, leading to improved performance in quality, delivery, and cost while driving a continuous improvement culture. The candidate will manage operations-related plans, budgets, policies, and procedures while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.
Job Responsibility:
Support all Manufacturing Strategic Working Group and act as the Liaison between Operations and the Business Area
Participate in Manufacturing Leadership Council (MLC) and drive manufacturing innovation beyond current BAE capabilities
Participate in Global Process Owner (GPO) Working Group
Lead pop-up special projects as a senior executive, augmenting executing teams as an independent expert
Centralize and deploy Continuous Improvement (CI) team as independent SMEs to address issues and initiatives across factories
Prioritize, follow up, and drive closure on launched capital projects, and forecast future needs
Collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) team, Advanced Manufacturing team, and C4ISR Roadmaps team
Build the C4ISR Business Area CARB deck and review and ensure consistency and compliance across all tier level performance review meetings
Ensure Preventive Maintenance (PM) processes are consistent across all C4ISR factories
Ensure Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) process are consistent across all C4ISR factories
Coach team's critical thinking skills and discussion quality, collaborating with Engineering
Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) Working Group to share best practices and address concerns
Requirements:
Significant Operations leadership experience
Proven leader, adept at navigating complex matrixed organizations, effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels
Knowledge and/or experience with AS9145/APQP or similar performance quality standards
Continuous Improvement philosophy and practice Lean Six Sigma
Proven record of on-time, on-budget, high-quality product production
Able to effectively work and collaborate across company's technical and non-technical functional disciplines (Program Office, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Communications, Human Resources)
Creative and Innovative problem solver
Able to obtain an Active Secret clearance
Nice to have:
Bachelor's Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience
