Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Digital Architect to lead the architecture and design of the bank’s digital channels and platforms, including web, mobile, APIs, and integration layers. The Senior Digital Architect will define and govern end-to-end digital architecture, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and compliant with banking regulations. This role partners closely with business leaders, product owners, engineers, security, and risk teams to translate digital strategy into executable technical architectures.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and evolve the digital architecture roadmap aligned with the bank’s business and digital transformation strategy
  • Design end-to-end architectures for digital banking platforms, including web, mobile, API, integration, and middleware layers
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, target-state architecture, and technology principles
  • Lead architectural design for complex digital initiatives, from concept through implementation
  • Produce and review architecture artefacts (high-level designs, solution architectures, integration patterns, non-functional requirements)
  • Govern solution designs through architecture review forums and ensure compliance with standards and best practices
  • Balance innovation with stability, security, and regulatory requirements
  • Embed security-by-design principles across all digital solutions
  • Ensure compliance with banking and regulatory standards (e.g., data privacy, cybersecurity, PCI DSS)
  • Partner with Information Security, Risk, and Compliance teams to conduct architecture risk assessments
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders on digital technology decisions
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, DevOps, and vendor teams to ensure architectural alignment
  • Mentor solution architects and senior engineers, contributing to architecture capability uplift
  • Support Agile delivery teams with architectural guidance and decision-making
  • Define reference architectures, patterns, and reusable components to accelerate delivery
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and vendors relevant to digital banking and fintech

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of IT experience, with significant experience in digital architecture within banking or financial services
  • Strong experience designing web and mobile digital platforms at enterprise scale
  • Deep understanding of API-led architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, and integration patterns
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of non-functional requirements: performance, availability, scalability, resilience, and observability
  • Solid understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery practices
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, identity and access management, encryption, and secure API design
  • Experience working within regulated environments and addressing audit, risk, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Comfortable influencing across teams without direct authority
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • Architecture certifications such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architecture, or equivalent are highly desirable
  • Experience with Agile at scale (SAFe, LeSS) is a plus

  • Experience in digital banking, payments, lending, or wealth platforms
  • Exposure to open banking, API marketplaces, and fintech integrations
  • Experience modernizing legacy banking systems and enabling digital transformation
