The role is responsible for the provision of quality service in line with the standards of nutrition and dietetics practice to patients in the Hermitage Clinic. As a key member of the frontline team, the Senior Dietitian will demonstrate professional competence, a strong collaborative approach and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the hospital. The position requires a strategic approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure professional standards are maintained in accordance with the requirements set out by CORU
Work within own scope of professional competence in line with principled of best practice, professional conduct and clinical governance
Along with the Senior Dietitian co-ordinate the provision of nutrition services to the designated clinical areas
Provide nutrition and dietetic intervention and counselling to patients referred from the clinical specialties within the Hospital
Liaise with medical, nursing, Allied Health Professional and catering staff on the nutritional management of the patient
Provide a comprehensive clinical nutrition service within established guidelines and follow departmental protocols where applicable
Contribute to service planning, implementation and evaluation as required
Develop a structured process for the nutrition education of other disciplines within the hospital
Co-ordinate and participate in nutrition committees and groups as required
Develop and monitor high standards of practice
Maintain appropriate statistical records
Audit and evaluate service provision against standards
Ensure educational materials and information databases which are used, are up to date and evidence based
Assist the Senior Dietitian in Audits as required
Maintain accurate records of service provided in accordance with hospital and professional, policies/guidelines
Carry out other duties appropriate to the post as they arise or as assigned by the Head of Clinical Services
Maintain good working relationships with colleagues in every hospital department
Requirements:
A relevant degree or post graduate qualifications in the area of Clinical Nutrition/Dietetics
Have at least three years recent relevant dietetic experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital or community setting
The candidate must be a current member or eligible for membership of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI)
