We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer to join our team in Toronto for a mission-critical 18-month engagement. This role is focused on designing, building, and supporting robust AWS cloud environments tailored for the Public Health domain. You will leverage your expertise in Linux systems, Kubernetes, and automated CI/CD pipelines to ensure the availability, security, and scalability of complex production systems while adhering to comapny healthcare standards.
Job Responsibility:
AWS Infrastructure Management: Design, build, and maintain production environments utilizing a wide array of AWS services, including VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, Aurora, and Redshift
Container Orchestration: Provide expert administration of Kubernetes and Docker container solutions to support microservices and distributed application architectures
System Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Bash, or Node.js and configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
Security & Compliance: Implement advanced cloud security models (identity, network, and encryption) and create safeguards to protect sensitive healthcare data against unauthorized access
Performance Monitoring: Regularly review production logs and use tools like AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail to monitor application performance, ensuring proactive issue resolution
Linux Administration: Perform installation, troubleshooting, and hardening of Red-Hat Linux operating systems to maintain a secure and stable foundation
Documentation & Design: Produce detailed system design models, technical specifications, and integration plans to support both new builds and sustainment activities
DevOps Integration: Manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, and Maven to streamline package deployment and automation
Requirements:
Cloud Expertise: 10+ years of IT experience with a deep focus on AWS resource management, automation, and production system maintenance
OS & Containers: 5+ years of experience with Linux (Red-Hat/Solaris) and 3+ years of hands-on administration of Kubernetes and Docker
5+ years working within federal/provincial healthcare environments, with familiarity in Company Architecture artifacts and gating processes
Automation Stack: Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, JavaScript) and build tools (Git, Ansible, Maven, Jenkins) for continuous integration
Specialized AWS Services: Knowledge of Amazon Connect, Pinpoint, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and Polly
Security Standards: Proven experience applying industry-standard architectural and security best practices within a cloud context
Soft Skills: Exceptional technical leadership, analytical problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of meeting strict deadlines in complex environments
