The Senior Loungewear Designer is responsible for leading the end-to-end design vision, development, and execution of commercially successful, brand-right loungewear collections. As loungewear represents a strategic growth pillar for Hunkemöller, this role plays a critical part in elevating the category, defining its aesthetic direction, and driving business performance. This position combines advanced creative leadership, deep consumer understanding, and strong commercial acumen to translate brand strategy into innovative, trend-relevant, and high-performing product.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the design and development of the loungewear category from concept to final execution
Define seasonal direction and ensure cohesive, elevated collections across all drops
Deliver innovative designs that balance creativity, comfort, functionality, and commercial viability
Own category performance, ensuring alignment with price architecture, margin targets, and business goals
Identify opportunities for category growth, new product concepts, and innovation
Drive deep understanding of the Hunkemöller customer, with a focus on lifestyle, comfort, and evolving homewear trends
Translate macro trends, cultural insights, and competitive analysis into forward-looking product concepts
Monitor sell-through, customer feedback, and competitor activity to continuously refine design direction
Anticipate shifts in the loungewear market and position the brand ahead of trends
Act as a key guardian and evolver of Hunkemöller’s brand identity within the loungewear category
Lead the creation of seasonal narratives, mood boards, and design concepts
Elevate storytelling through cohesive collections that resonate emotionally with the customer
Ensure consistency and innovation across materials, silhouettes, colors, and detailing
Design with a strong understanding of commercial drivers including margin, volume, and sell-through
Partner closely with Buying and Merchandising to align product strategy with business objectives
Use data, insights, and post-season analysis to optimize future collections
Balance long-term brand building with short-term trading opportunities
Lead collaboration across Design, Buying, Technical Development, Sourcing, and Marketing
Clearly communicate vision, concepts, and design intent to stakeholders at all levels
Influence decision-making to ensure alignment on product direction and execution
Mentor and support junior designers, fostering a high-performing and creative team environment
Deliver high-quality sketches, technical drawings, and detailed product specifications
Oversee fit sessions and ensure excellence in fit, comfort, and construction
Lead fabric, trim, and color development in alignment with category direction
Ensure all products meet quality standards and reflect premium design execution
Operate effectively within fast-paced seasonal calendars and multiple product drops
Respond quickly to trading performance and emerging opportunities
Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and ways of working
Champion efficiency while maintaining high creative standards
Requirements:
Minimum 8+ years of experience in fashion design, with strong experience in loungewear, intimates, or adjacent categories
Proven track record of owning and growing a product category in a commercial fashion environment
Strong portfolio demonstrating creative leadership, innovation, and commercial success
Deep expertise in: Product construction, fabrics, and garment engineering
Trend forecasting and consumer behavior
End-to-end product development processes
Strong understanding of the balance between brand storytelling and commercial performance
Experience working in a fast-paced, international retail or omni-channel environment
Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills
Experience preffered in CLO3D and AI mindset, Adobe Creative Suite and PLM systems
