Job Description

As a Senior Design Manager, you'll lead design across apps and features like Teams, Projects, Goals, and navigation components such as Universal Create and App Switcher, enhancing the user experience across Atlassian products. You'll guide a team of designers to deliver impactful, high-quality work that simplifies work sprawl and supports seamless, integrated user experiences across the Atlassian products.

Job Responsibility

Manage and mentor a team of product designers, fostering a supportive environment that encourages craft excellence and career growth
Oversee complex design initiatives spanning multiple workstreams, maintaining a high-quality standard and removing blockers to ensure timely delivery
Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Research to deliver cohesive, end-to-end product experiences
Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the Atlassian product portfolio to drive alignment and support for design initiatives
Define and deliver conceptual models and incremental design improvements for core components, focusing on consistent and valuable user experiences
Champion design best practices, inclusive design, and pattern adoption, and drive continuous improvement of processes to support quality outcomes.

Requirements

Experience: 12+ years in product design with 5+ years managing teams, ideally within a tech or SaaS environment
Demonstrated expertise in interaction design, prototyping, content design, or visual design, with a passion for delivering exceptional user experiences
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners, align stakeholders, and influence product strategy
Clear, effective communicator with a strong ability to present and defend design decisions and direction
A natural mentor with a talent for developing and retaining diverse, high-performing teams.
