Job Description:

The Sr. Design Engineer plays a key role in the Seeding Product Lines at CNH Industrial, working independently or as a team leader. This role involves designing products, improving existing solutions, and managing medium to large projects, while guiding junior engineers. Collaboration with cross-functional teams ensures high quality designs and timely product completion. The engineer will conduct design analysis on components and assemblies, ensuring cost efficiency, manufacturability, and reliability. Hands-on design development and verification are essential for success in this role.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design, develop, and support the integration of vehicle components and/or subsystems for seeding equipment consistent with program objectives to support product launch
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to coordinate interrelated design and assure project completion
  • Lead design reviews and DFM/DFA processes to ensure manufacturing understanding and incorporate manufacturing feedback into successful industrialization of the completed design
  • Conduct and review design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process, ensuring designs are cost effective, manufacturable, and meet quality targets
  • Support prototype builds and actively engage in field operations related to the specific design
  • Develop, maintain, and release necessary system specifications and documentation to be used by both internal and external customers
  • Design new processes and improvements for product development
  • May confer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products
  • May direct field testing of products and systems performed by field staff
  • May provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced engineers
  • May forecast operating costs of department and direct preparation of budget requests for specific projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, an Agricultural Engineering Degree with a focus in heavy machinery, Industrial Design, or a related field, may be considered
  • 6 years of relevant experience in Engineering Design
  • Knowledge of seeding and/or other North American farming practices
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experience working cross-functionally across teams
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) licensure
  • Experience with Pro/E Creo or similliar 3D parametric modeling software
