Microsoft Cloud Planning (MCP) is the central planning function within CSCP focused on forecasting, demand planning, and supply planning for all Microsoft Cloud services and associated hardware, directly impacting the success of Microsoft's cloud business. We are seeking an experienced Senior Demand Forecasting Manager to join our team!
Job Responsibility:
Managing the rolling 12-week customer demand forecast for Azure Compute that directly drives compute cluster triggers across Azure regions and availability zones
The forecast is developed using a combination of live usage telemetry, backlog conversion trends, service launches, other inorganics, etc
Play a critical role in ensuring accurate regional and AZ level forecast signals to enable timely and efficient capacity delivery for both 1P and 3P workloads
Monitor forecast consumption versus plan, ensuring alignment with live usage, backlog, and customer onboarding trends
Report and explain weekly forecast deltas, identifying the drivers of change and associated financial and operational impacts
Identify regional demand risks and proactively surface mitigation options through alternate AZ or CPU family swaps
Partner to reconcile short-term consumption patterns with mid-term demand plans
Collaborate with analytics and tooling teams to automate data ingestion, validation, and visualization of 12-week forecast signals
Continuously improve forecast accuracy and bias metrics through model enhancements, new telemetry inputs, and process discipline
Support ad-hoc investigations for demand spikes, large customer onboarding, and cross-regional migrations
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 6+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience OR equivalent experience
4+ years of forecasting experience working with Product / Engineering Groups in Cloud / high tech supply chain
Experience with Advanced Data Modeling & Forecasting Analytics
Experience building and refining models (using SQL, Python, or R) that simulate capacity demand scenarios, quantify forecast error, and provide actionable insights to improve planning accuracy
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Proficiency in designing and implementing automation pipelines (e.g., Power BI) that integrate signals across S&OP and S&OE horizons, enabling real-time risk detection, variance tracking, and decision-making at scale
