Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the hardware infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! CSCP’s vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud and AI capabilities at scale. Our mission is to deliver the world's computer with an industry-leading supply chain. The CSCP organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as plan, source, make, deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), sustainability, and decommissioning of datacenter assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is supported by more than 300 datacenters around the world that enable services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries. Microsoft Cloud Planning (MCP) is the central planning function within CSCP focused on forecasting, demand planning, and supply planning for all Microsoft Cloud services and associated hardware, directly impacting the success of Microsoft's cloud business.
Job Responsibility:
Own end to end AI GPU demand forecasting across customer usage–based and hardware based signals, translating complex data into actionable, capacity ready forecasts
Develop, validate, and maintain statistical and scenario based forecasts using historical usage, telemetry, and qualitative inputs to support short and mid term planning cycles
Drive consensus demand planning by triangulating signals from Engineering, Finance, and Planning partners to establish a single source of truth
Lead SAP Integrated Business Planning (SAP IBP) hardware statistical forecasting, including data readiness, model validation, UAT sign off, and cycle execution
Partner on usage based forecasting platforms (e.g., Mantis) to enhance model accuracy, segmentation, and scalability for AI workloads
Ensure forecast outputs are aligned to standardized units of measure (e.g., GPU A100e equivalents) and are consumable by downstream planning teams
Act as a bridge between Data Science, Engineering, Finance, and Supply Chain, translating business questions into analytical frameworks and forecasts
Facilitate working sessions, design reviews, and planning workshops to drive alignment on assumptions, risks, and trade offs
Support executive and senior leadership reviews with clear narratives, insights, and recommendations backed by data
Own forecast validation, accuracy measurement, and bias analysis, including P50/P90 sign offs and scenario sensitivity assessments
Establish and maintain data quality, governance, and documentation standards to ensure auditability and repeatability of planning outputs
Identify gaps in data, tooling, or process maturity and drive remediation plans with partner teams
Contribute to AI capacity planning strategy, identifying risks, constraints, and opportunities as demand scales rapidly
Drive process improvements and automation to reduce manual effort, improve cycle time, and increase forecast reliability
Support Kaizen and transformation initiatives to evolve forecasting from reactive to proactive, model driven planning

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Nice to have:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 12+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience OR equivalent experience
Deep forecasting experience: Demonstrated 10+ years of track record delivering demand forecasts using time-series/statistical modeling and translating results into operational decisions (forecast selection, overrides, and governance)
Demand-driven + segmented forecasting: Experience building demand-driven forecasts at granular levels (e.g., customer/segment) and aggregating, validating, and reconciling across multiple demand signals
Planning systems fluency ( SAP IBP preferred): Hands-on experience with planning/forecasting platforms and workflows (e.g., statistical forecasting, exception management, embedded analytics, what if/scenario simulation)
Scenario forecasting & uncertainty: Experience producing scenario/range-based outputs and partnering with stakeholders to choose the “right” forecast based on model outputs plus business context (not just backtesting)
Strong cross-functional leadership in ambiguous environments
ability to influence decisions across engineering/business teams with clear data storytelling
Experience with capacity planning / forecasting in cloud or infrastructure contexts (compute/storage/power), including consensus
