As a Senior Demand Analyst at Westwing, you will own and continuously improve our statistical baseline forecast, ensuring a reliable and scalable foundation for demand planning across the entire portfolio. You will monitor forecast performance, analyse forecast changes, and identify opportunities to improve accuracy through enhancements to forecasting models, data, and system parameters. In close collaboration with our forecasting software provider, you will optimise statistical forecasting models, challenge existing forecasting logic, and drive sustainable improvements in baseline forecast quality. As the central expert for statistical forecasting and baseline generation, you will play a key role in advancing Westwing’s forecasting capabilities and establishing best practices for forecast model governance and continuous improvement. This position is permanent and based in Munich.
Job Responsibility
Develop the statistical baseline forecast and validate it from various sources
Interact with Commercial teams to understand and interpret the historical impact of market trends and demand drivers in order to scrub the history in preparation for a statistical baseline refresh
Monitor and optimise forecast accuracy KPIs (MAPE, Bias, Rolling Forecast Error), conducting root cause analysis and implementing structural improvements
Share the statistical forecast and/or the forecast range, forecast updates and underlying assumptions to the consensus demand planners
Understand and implement artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) programs that can help optimize a lean, agile, and data-driven approach
Mentor and develop demand planning team members, building expertise in advanced forecasting techniques
Requirements
A degree in business analytics, statistics, mathematics, economics, industrial engineering, or a related field
6+ years of experience in demand planning or supply chain analytics, managing complex, multi-SKU portfolios across regions
Advanced knowledge of statistical and machine learning forecasting methods (e.g., multivariate regression, time-series modelling), with a strong command of metrics like MAPE and forecast bias
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a solid understanding of statistical methods and forecasting principles and experience working with large datasets and translating data into actionable insights
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, Tableau, SQL, Python, or similar analytical software
Strong problem-solving skills combined with a structured and detail-oriented working style
