Job Description:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to lead database management activities, design complex databases, implement security solutions, and provide technical leadership for database technology direction.

Job Responsibility:

Maintain uptime and reliability of database services across multiple environments
Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and operational issues
Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents
Continuously improve automation and operational workflows
Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting guides
Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Application teams to support business needs
Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements

Requirements:

4+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education
Lead or participate in database management activities including designing highly complex logical and physical databases
Lead highly complex data modeling, mapping, integration, and capacity planning efforts
Perform the planning, research, design, implementation, maintenance, and control of server class databases
Design and implement security solutions including Center for Internet Security benchmarks and auditing
Design and certify next generation database technologies
Consult with and advise management and multiple clients on high impact data or database management issues
Provide technical leadership and recommendation into the future direction of database technology
Develop management policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Nice to have:

Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, Google Cloud Digital Leader, or ITIL Foundation
Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Hands-on exposure to monitoring and alerting tools aligned with SRE practices (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
Experience with automation frameworks and scripting for operational efficiency using Shell, Python, or similar tools
Ability to troubleshoot and optimize hybrid cloud database environments
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), and database performance tuning
