Senior Database Administrator

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of database systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and adhere to industry best practices
• Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and other techniques to ensure efficient data access and system response times
• Implement and maintain data security measures, including access controls, data encryption, and regular security audits
• Develop and maintain database backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring the availability and integrity of our data assets
• Monitor database systems for performance issues, proactively identifying and resolving problems to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and software developers to integrate database solutions with data pipelines, analytics platforms, and software applications
• Mentor and guide junior database administrators, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team
• Stay current on emerging database technologies, trends, and best practices, identifying opportunities for their application within the data infrastructure

• 8-10 years of experience in database administration roles, with a strong understanding of relational and NoSQL database systems
• Expert knowledge of database management systems including MySQL, PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server
• Strong SQL and query tuning skills, experience with database optimization techniques
• Strong understanding of data security and privacy best practices and regulations, including GDPR and CCPA
• Experience with database backup and disaster recovery planning and implementation
• Familiarity with cloud-based database services, such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL Database
• Familiarity with vector databases and embedding workflows, semantic search and hybrid search strategies
• Excellent problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Outstanding communication and leadership abilities
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly through various channels
