You will join a collaborative team of data scientists, analysts, engineers, product managers and designers who build innovative products for Airbnb guests and hosts. Your core team will consist of data scientists within the Guest & Host Data Science organization, who develop models, foundational tools, and insights to improve the Airbnb marketplace and product. As a member of our team, you will play a key role in building user-friendly, optimized Airbnb products and tools that empower our hosts to thrive on our platform, while also making it easy for guests to discover and book stays that perfectly match their needs. Your work might include developing innovative programs, such as a host acquisition bounty initiative to attract new hosts, or leveraging advanced technologies like LLMs and NLP to generate actionable location insights that help guests better understand the unique attributes of potential travel destinations. You’ll have opportunities to build data products from the ground up and evaluate the impact of new features using both experimental and observational methods. Your most significant contributions will include partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and optimize product features, ensuring the team stays data-driven by surfacing meaningful insights that inform decisions and strategy, and rigorously quantifying the effects of our latest innovations through a variety of measurement approaches.
Job Responsibility:
Building strong relationships with cross-functional partners across Product, Design, Engineering, and Analytics to drive collaboration and innovation
Contributing directly to launching new data-driven products to help the Airbnb guest and host community
Writing software in Python, SQL, or R to model, simulate, and measure the impact of new product features for both guests and hosts
Analyzing structured or unstructured data to uncover meaningful insights and craft actionable proposals
Presenting findings and recommendations to leaders and stakeholders in a clear, compelling manner that drives informed data-driven decision making
Requirements:
5+ years of experience with BS/masters degree, 2+ years of experience with PhD
Experience with experimentation and causal observational analysis
Experience partnering closely with product, engineering, and design to enable data-driven product development
Experience prototyping, building, and scaling derived data assets
Strong coding skills in SQL and either Python or R
Strong oral and written communication skills - an ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience
