We are currently seeking a Senior Data Conversion Specialist to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario (CA-ON), Canada (CA). Project Summary: The client has embarked on numerous modernization efforts and digital transformation projects to enhance service delivery, improve efficiency, and ensure its programs remain responsive to evolving societal needs. Among these initiatives, the Purview initiative stands out as an important step in the client's journey toward improved governance, data management, and service innovation. The Purview initiative is aimed at streamlining and strengthening the department's approach to information management, data governance, and digital services. The Purview initiative addresses this need by providing a framework for decision-making, clarifying roles, and enhancing accountability in the management of information and services. Deliverables: A comprehensive report that includes findings for each task. Implementation Documentation Package (e.g. a how-to guide) for client use. An Executive Presentation summarizing all recommendations, findings, and strategies.
Job Responsibility
Assess Microsoft Purview's Data Management Lifecycle to determine whether and how the 1000 available retention labels can be repurposed once configured
Develop a comprehensive retention label allocation strategy, considering clients function-based classification plan, with retention schedules, being incomplete and anticipated future program creation requiring new labels
Recommend approaches to streamline retention labels and disposition processes, including strategies to consolidate and reduce usage to within the 1,000-label limit
Provide contingency recommendations using other M365 tools (e.g., Power Automate), should the 1,000-label hard limit prove insufficient
Design methods to manage and operationalize complex retention triggers, leveraging workflows and/or metadata, to ensure compliance and efficiency
Prepare implementation documentation (e.g., a how-to guide) suitable for sharing with classified teams to support their adoption of Purview
Compile all findings and recommendations into a comprehensive written report, accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation summarizing key insights for senior management
Oversee all facilities of the conversion process
Complete mapping, interfaces, mock conversion work, enhancements, actual conversion, and verify completeness and accuracy of converted data
Establish a strong working relationship with all clients, interact effectively with all levels of client personnel, and provide conversion support
Analyze and coordinate data file conversions
Work with importing files from heterogeneous Platforms
Assist with data scrubbing
Requirements
Must have 10+ years of experience working in a similar Information Management, Data Governance, or Data Lifecycle Management role
Must have 3+ years of recent experience working with Microsoft Purview and other M365 tools (e.g., Power Automate, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams) in a governance or compliance context
Must hold a valid Reliability Security Clearance with the Government of Canada
Must have a Canadian university degree or college/CEGEP diploma related to computer science, business administration, information technology, or engineering or the equivalent as established by a recognized Canadian academic credentials assessment service
Nice to have
Strong communication skills and comfortable running executive level presentations
Experience with data workflow automation or business process design
Experience with SQL, data querying, or data analysis tools
Experience supporting records disposition, information lifecycle management, or compliance audits
Experience engaging with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams
