Job Description:

IT Sr. Data Analyst works with business, data governance and IT partners to understand the data needs and identifies and documents the requirements for the project efforts. The BA/DA works closely with the identified business data owner/SMEs and performs his/her own research to understand the elements, performs data analysis, and gathers all necessary element attributes and performs any required mapping. The BA/DA serves as a requirement liaison between business and IT to ensure all questions are answered, requirements are clarified and necessary updates are captured.

Job Responsibility:

Formulate and define systems scope and objectives for complex projects
Foster communication between business leaders and IT
Consult with users and clients to solve complex system issues/problems
Support system change processes from requirements through implementation
Consult with business clients to determine system functional specifications
Identify and communicate risks and impacts
Act as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts
Work as a team to achieve business objectives
Serve as requirement liaison between business and IT
Perform data analysis and gather element attributes
Support development and testing through requirement development and validation
Report team activities to project management and stakeholders

Requirements:

5-8 years of relevant experience
Experience with projects relating to data management efforts including implementation of Enterprise Data Model, Operational Data Store, Metadata Repository and Master Data Management
Strong understanding of relational databases
Experience performing extensive data mapping exercises and in-depth data analysis activities
Strong ability to read/interpret complex SQL
Experience eliciting requirements during real time collaborative sessions with stakeholders
Strong interpersonal skills and techniques to solve dynamic problems
Excellent teamwork skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong consulting skills
Experience identifying and implementing process improvement
Solid skills effectively working multiple projects simultaneously
Strong organizational skills and ability to influence team dynamics
Proficiency in project management methods and techniques
Ability to estimate work effort at project milestones
Ability to research, classify, and prioritize requirements
Experience in varying SDLC methodologies especially Agile
Self-motivated
Detail oriented
Experience working with Mainframe, Client/Server, Web, and system architecture
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) with extensive experience using Excel for data analysis
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent work experience

Nice to have:

Knowledge of Mortgage and Retail business
Knowledge/experience using JIRA or similar requirement management tools
Experience with the development and documentation of use cases and stories
Previous programming experience
Ability to read/interpret SAS code
Good understanding of interface design patterns and concepts
