The Senior Data Analyst role focuses on leveraging AWS technologies and extensive SQL expertise to drive business insights through data analytics and BI implementations. Candidates should have a strong background in data warehousing and ETL processes, along with excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a master's degree preferred. This hybrid position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.
Job Responsibility:
Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather, analyze, and prioritize requirements
Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable data and analytics requirements
Prepare and deliver business requirements reviews, project updates, and roadblock assessments to senior leadership
Participate in strategic and tactical planning discussions with cross-functional teams
Actively contribute to BI and analytics implementations across enterprise data platforms, data lakes, and data warehouses
Identify and source relevant data across multiple data repositories and efficiently extract, process, and validate it
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency through validation and descriptive statistical analysis
Provide detailed guidance on data sources, metrics, and definitions to accelerate analytics and data pipeline development
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, automated, and user-friendly dashboards, reports, and analytical tools
Develop and maintain artifacts focused on business analysis, KPIs, metrics, and performance reporting
Enable data-driven decision-making by aggregating and presenting insights in a clear, digestible format
Partner with operations and business teams to implement metrics, automated reporting solutions, and process improvements
Support the development and optimization of ETL pipelines, query performance, and data models
Ensure adherence to data governance standards, policies, and best practices
Deliver results on ambiguous projects with incomplete or evolving data requirements
Requirements:
10+ years of experience in a business analyst or data analyst role
5+ years of expert-level SQL skills with experience optimizing queries on very large datasets
5+ years of strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling
5+ years of experience with AWS analytics technologies, including Redshift, Athena, S3, EC2
5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing ETL pipelines and performance tuning
5+ years of experience using scripting languages for data parsing and analysis
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
Nice to have:
Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
Prior experience supporting enterprise-level data platforms and analytics initiatives
Professional experience in business analysis, data analysis, or statistical analysis
Strong domain experience in Finance Planning & Analytics (FP&A)
Proven experience leading or contributing to large-scale analytics and BI initiatives
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
Strong problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills
High attention to detail with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage ambiguity
