Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Counsel to join the Technology Legal Section of the Legal Department, to serve as a senior legal advisor to the global Wells Fargo Technology organization, and its risk, compliance and control executives on technology and artificial intelligence matters, risks and issues that arise from their business activities. The Senior Counsel will be a recognized thought leader who can assist senior leaders to clear hurdles, collaborate across the enterprise, help provide regulatory clarity, and advise technology, and innovation leaders on legal and compliance requirements related to risk and issue management. This role will include frequent interface and collaboration with Legal counterparts supporting regulatory and risk, cyber, data and privacy, IP, procurement, and regulatory enforcement, and employment and line of business attorneys.

Job Responsibility:

  • Help to support senior Technology Legal leaders in advising Wells Fargo’s Technology organization and enterprise CIO teams on legal issues related to technology, artificial intelligence, and technology risk.
  • Assist with legal analysis for technology initiatives supporting consumer and commercial banking, trading, capital markets, and investment platforms, including front office, middle office, and infrastructure technologies.
  • Help evaluate AI and advanced analytics use cases, including governance requirements, model risk considerations, regulatory expectations, and control frameworks.
  • Provide legal support for large scale technology modernization efforts, including legacy platform remediation, system re architecture, and strategic vendor and fintech integrations.
  • Assist with legal analysis related to cloud adoption for regulated workloads, including outsourcing, resiliency, third party risk, and supervisory expectations.
  • Support legal reviews related to operational resiliency, disaster recovery, and technology risk management for critical systems.
  • Partner with technology, risk, compliance, cybersecurity, privacy, procurement, and sourcing teams on cross functional initiatives under senior attorney guidance.
  • Support technology related M&A activity by assisting with technology due diligence, integration and separation risk analysis, and coordination with M&A and Corporate Legal teams under senior attorney guidance.
  • Research and help interpret U.S. and international financial services regulations impacting technology, AI, outsourcing, resiliency, and data management.
  • Help draft legal guidance, issue analyses, playbooks, and governance materials that support technology strategy while managing regulatory and operational risk.
  • Prepare briefing materials, summaries, and presentations for senior legal and technology leadership and other internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States

Nice to have:

  • Experience advising clients on technology use, sourcing, regulation, or disputes
  • Experience advising financial services companies or companies in other highly regulated industries
  • Experience (or strong interest) in technology, data, AI, cybersecurity, third‑party risk, or fintech legal issues within a regulated environment.
  • Some knowledge of (or desire to learn) U.S. banking and securities regulatory frameworks (e.g., OCC, Federal Reserve, FDIC, FFIEC, FINRA, SEC) as they relate to technology and operational risk.
  • Experience supporting regulatory exams, audits, issue management, or remediation efforts is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to distill complex regulatory requirements into practical, clear legal guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting legal analyses, summaries, and executive‑level materials.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams and take direction while exercising sound judgment and knowing when to escalate issues.

  • Advise the partners on a multi-year business growth plan, including market segmentation, competitive positioning, pricing models, and new legal service and product development
  • Manage quarterly objectives and financial forecasting in support of partners’ P&L ownership responsibilities by defining and monitoring KPIs and producing quality insights for firm management meetings
