Job Description

Our mission is to serve as Uber’s strategic compliance partner on commercial and emerging risks, enabling high-velocity decision-making across our most complex growth initiatives, including autonomous mobility, cross-border M&A, strategic investments, and next-generation platforms such as Uber AV Labs, Uber AI, and U4B. You’ll work at the intersection of legal, product, policy, and strategy, embedding upstream with Corporate Development and Business Development teams to identify risk early, shape go-to-market and market-entry strategies, and translate ambiguity into clear, actionable guidance. Your impact will help Uber move faster with confidence and integrity by delivering enterprise-aligned counsel that unlocks opportunity rather than simply managing exposure.

Job Responsibility

  • Serve as a strategic compliance partner on complex commercial initiatives, including M&A, strategic investments, AV deployments, AI-enabled products, and third-party partnerships
  • Advise early in deal and launch lifecycles to identify and manage risks related to anti-corruption, cross-border activity, third-party integrity, and emerging regulatory regimes
  • Partner with Corporate Development, Business Development, and Legal during diligence and integration to assess risk exposure, inform structuring decisions, and support execution readiness
  • Shape market-entry and go-to-market strategies for regulated and emerging businesses by designing risk-informed launch frameworks and decision guides
  • Build and maintain scalable playbooks, fast-track review models, and escalation frameworks that support speed without sacrificing judgment
  • Connect the dots across Legal, Policy, Product, Trust & Security, and Trade Compliance to ensure consistent, enterprise-aligned risk positioning
  • Translate evolving regulatory and enforcement trends into practical guidance for business leaders and executives
  • Support audit readiness, internal training, and regulator engagement as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of legal experience in private practice, government, and/or in-house with subject matter expertise in anti-corruption, cross-border legal risk, M&A and strategic investment deal diligence and counseling
  • J.D. and license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.

Nice to have

  • At least two (2) years of in-house experience and tech-forward product counseling is highly preferred
  • Future-focused: You track where regulation is going, not just where it is, and shape scalable approaches ahead of the curve
  • Strong, team-oriented collaborator, with confidence and flexibility to perform in nimble, rapidly changing and growing environments, as well as build relationships and gain credibility with business and legal partners
  • Superior analytical and legal skills, mature judgment, innovative thinking and a desire to take the initiative and think two steps ahead
  • Ability to translate complex legal issues and ambiguity into clear and simple advice, to communicate effectively with non-legal internal colleagues, and to interface with a broad range of senior business managers, executives and other colleagues and professionals across our company
  • Passionate about your work and a desire to have a big impact
  • Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics and accountability
  • Enthusiasm about Uber and our mission!

What we offer

  • Eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program
  • May be offered an equity award & other types of comp
  • All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan
  • Eligible for various benefits (details at link).
