Job Description

Senior Cost Controller – Site Based. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, this site-based Senior Cost Controller will be responsible for budget management, expenditure control and forecasting to assist our project teams in ensuring completion within approved cost, schedule, quality and performance criteria. Reporting financial performance within a Large Scale Construction Project. This role will be site based on a 2:1 Roster for 12+ Months.

Job Responsibility

  • Compliance and Improvement: Adhere to all Primero procedures, standards, and processes, while proactively identifying areas for improvement
  • Project Controls Procedures Development: Assist in developing the project controls management plan, and project-specific procedures and processes
  • Budget Management: Translate estimates into approved project control budgets based on the project execution philosophy, establish and monitor project budgets using InEight
  • Schedule Alignment: Collaborate with Planners to align schedules and costs through WBS, CBS, resources, and activities
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyse commitments and actuals to ensure correct coding, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Forecasting and Analysis: Prepare project forecasts, conduct detailed analyses, identify trends, propose mitigations, and provide commentary
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Collect, validate, analyse, and report actual and earned hours, along with associated trends and movements
  • Change Control: Monitor, analyse, and report on change control, focusing on key drivers of deviations and early trends
  • Reporting Deliverables: Prepare, collate, and deliver project controls reporting deliverables
  • Risk & Opportunity Management: Assist in identifying risks and opportunities and suggest mitigation strategies
  • Contract Management: Understand scopes, pricing schedules, commercial frameworks, and reporting obligations against the head contract
  • HSE Responsibilities: Meet all role-specific HSE responsibilities, accountabilities, and KPIs

Requirements

  • Greater than 5 years' experience in cost engineering or cost control essential
  • Experience in Construction and Engineering, particularly in the Resources and Mining industries
  • Experienced operator of a cost management tool essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Construction methodology to assist with forecasting
  • Strong statistical and analytical reporting skills
  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerBI
  • Proactively completes tasks
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Can work under pressure while prioritising and delegating tasks
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Team focused
  • Strong safety attitude
  • University degree preferred (Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Accounting or similar discipline), but not essential
  • AACE / ACES qualification preferred, but not essential
