We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Vernon, California. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented candidate with extensive experience in manufacturing cost accounting and financial analysis. As part of a long-term contract, you will play a pivotal role in supporting financial operations, ensuring accurate cost reporting, and driving efficiency across multiple facilities.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations related to costs
Develop and maintain standard costs, including multi-level bills of materials, labor costs, and overhead rates
Collaborate with Operations teams to analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and efficiencies, providing actionable insights
Conduct detailed cost, spend, and variance analyses to evaluate equipment utilization, labor performance, and production variances
Prepare cost inputs for pricing and margin analysis, supporting customer bids and pricing activities
Coordinate annual physical inventory processes, including planning, execution, valuation, and reconciliation
Participate in budgeting and forecasting, offering updated cost assumptions and variance explanations for product lines
Assist in audit processes by preparing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries related to inventory and manufacturing costs
Identify opportunities to enhance cost accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or equivalent experience in manufacturing cost accounting
Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, preferably in consumer goods, industrial, or process manufacturing
Comprehensive knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and manufacturing cost structures
Proficiency in using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and cost modeling
Experience in supporting budget preparation and forecasting processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
