We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a key role in supporting various programs and ensuring accurate financial management. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in cost accounting, government contracting, and financial analysis, contributing to the success of our operations.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee revenue recognition processes, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and accuracy in reporting
Perform detailed cost allocations and variance analyses to support financial decision-making
Prepare and review invoices for various contract types, maintaining accuracy and adherence to guidelines
Collaborate with Program Managers to monitor budgets and provide insights into financial performance
Conduct project budgeting and track expenses against forecasts to ensure alignment with objectives
Reconcile accounts and prepare financial reports to provide clear insights into program performance
Develop and maintain reporting dashboards to track key financial metrics and trends
Ensure compliance with government contracting regulations and other relevant financial standards
Utilize advanced Excel formulas to analyze data and present actionable insights
Support ad hoc financial tasks and projects as needed to meet organizational goals
Requirements:
Proven experience in cost accounting, with a focus on government contracts, construction, or manufacturing
Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and cost allocation methods
Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including formulas and data analysis
Demonstrated ability to manage invoicing, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to support variance analysis and budgeting
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with Program Managers
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
