The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining and improving standard costing processes within a manufacturing environment. This role supports financial accuracy through inventory analysis, cost rollups, and collaboration with operations to ensure reliable product costing and inventory controls. The position plays a key role in monthly close and ongoing cost and inventory management.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain and update standard costs, including material, labor, and overhead rates
Perform and manage cost rollups within NetSuite to ensure accurate product costing
Develop and support annual standard cost processes and updates
Reconcile monthly inventory balances and investigate variances
Participate in and oversee cycle counting programs and physical inventory counts
Audit inventory counts and implements corrective actions as needed
Analyze inventory and production variances and provide recommendations for improvement
Assist with month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve costing accuracy and inventory controls
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to cost accounting and inventory management
Assist with internal and external audit requests related to inventory and costing
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Minimum of 4 years of standard costing experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience using NetSuite or similar ERP systems
Strong understanding of inventory accounting and cost accounting principles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
