We are looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to support financial accuracy and operational insight for manufacturing activities in Littleton, Colorado. This position focuses on inventory valuation, cost analysis, and financial reporting while partnering with cross-functional teams to improve processes and strengthen decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex financial data into meaningful business recommendations.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain and enhance cost accounting processes and financial controls to support accurate reporting and compliance with accounting standards
Review inventory balances, production activity, and related transactions to help ensure assets are valued correctly and protected through effective controls
Calculate manufacturing variances, investigate key drivers, and communicate findings to operations partners to support timely performance analysis
Partner with business and plant stakeholders to build profit and loss plans for assigned product lines and contribute cost estimates for new offerings
Assess inventory and production procedures, identify control gaps or inefficiencies, and recommend practical improvements to strengthen accuracy and consistency
Support the creation and maintenance of standard costs for designated product lines and compare actual results against expected performance
Analyze general ledger and subledger data, research unusual items, and resolve discrepancies to improve the reliability of financial information
Prepare period-over-period financial comparisons and summarize results with clear commentary for management review
Provide guidance and training to internal teams on cost-related transactions, accounting procedures, and reporting expectations
Expand reporting capabilities by leveraging enterprise systems and financial applications to deliver more useful operational and accounting insight
Requirements:
Experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing plant environment
Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost analysis, inventory accounting, and variance reporting
Demonstrated technical knowledge of the accounting requirements and practices generated by regulatory or professional outside agencies such as FASB, IRS, and SEC
Proficiency with SAP and familiarity with SAP S/4HANA in an accounting or finance setting
Ability to analyze large volumes of financial and operational data and turn findings into actionable recommendations
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and production personnel
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and improve accounting processes
An advanced degree or certification, such as an MBA, CCE, CMA or CPA beneficial
