We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Dallas, Texas on a contract basis. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to play a vital role in analyzing and optimizing financial operations within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will excel in standard costing, cost analysis, inventory management, and budget preparation, while collaborating with various departments to enhance cost efficiency and profitability.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct detailed analyses of actual manufacturing costs, comparing them to budgeted figures to identify and address variances
Oversee the cost of goods sold and ensure accurate tracking of financial data related to production
Maintain precise inventory records, reconcile finished goods inventories, and support physical inventory counts as needed
Assist in creating budgets and forecasts, monitoring expenses against plans, and preparing detailed cost performance reports
Identify opportunities to reduce or control costs across materials, labor, and overhead
Develop and present reports that highlight variances between standard costs and actual production costs, providing actionable insights to management
Collaborate with production, engineering, and sales teams to drive cost efficiency and enhance profitability
Handle additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the finance department
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
at least two years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting
proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel capabilities, and accounting software
comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their application in manufacturing
solid understanding of accounting processes specific to manufacturing operations
exceptional analytical and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines
proven ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams
expertise in managing sensitive and confidential information with integrity
strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial data clearly
Nice to have:
System implementation experience is a plus
Experience with MS Dynamics (D365) is a plus
