The Senior Corporate Underwriter plays a critical role in evaluating and approving complex corporate and high-value credit applications. This role focuses on detailed analysis, comprehensive reporting, and sound decision-making in line with business, regulatory, and risk frameworks.
Job Responsibility:
Assess and approve corporate and high-value customer credit applications within delegated authority
Conduct detailed credit analysis for applications typically ranging from £1m to £25m, including corporate entities, small companies, and high-net-worth individuals
Produce clear, well-structured credit reports that explain financial context, risks, and decision rationale
Maintain robust audit trails, ensuring compliance with onboarding, origination, and due diligence procedures
Monitor operational processes and standard operating procedures, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and governance
Support competence development across the credit and onboarding functions
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and escalate risks where required
Participate in ad-hoc projects and process reviews to improve the end-to-end client experience
Requirements:
Proven experience in corporate credit underwriting, corporate credit analysis, or finance/accounting roles
Exposure to complex corporate lending decisions and larger credit applications
Knowledge of UK regulated finance and risk frameworks desirable
Education in finance, accounting, business management, or law advantageous but not essential
Proficiency in MS Office, financial databases, and specialized underwriting software
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a focus on financial data and company accounts
In-depth understanding of credit risk, corporate structures, and complex lending
Ability to produce detailed written reports and communicate findings effectively
Attention to detail and proactive prioritization of tasks
Strong relationship management and customer service orientation
Ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining high standards
Commercial awareness and sound judgment in decision-making
