Join a global leader in offshore energy as we expand our team in Baku, Azerbaijan. We are hiring a Senior Contracts Specialist on a full-time, contract basis to join our UK & Global IRM division for an initial period of 12 months. As a Senior Contracts Specialist, you will be responsible for all commercial and contractual matters including managing the alliance partnerships in contracting arrangements. This role will primarily entail contract management, and Key Subcontract management support. Our UK & Global IRM division are the team responsible for the practical execution and delivery of a variety of IRM and Construction Projects across the world. They work with a variety of projects, ranging from IRM (Inspection, Repair and Maintenance) work to large EPIC projects, including working with our Bundles Pipeline technology.
Job Responsibility
Lead high‑level contract analysis, advising the project leadership on obligations, risks and commercial strategy
Oversee subcontract negotiations and ensure robust commercial governance across all packages
Drive the full variations and claims strategy to maximise project value and protect margins
Partner with Project Services to steer cost, revenue and invoicing performance
Manage all major contractual communications, insurances, guarantees and final accounts
Champion risk management, compliance and continuous improvement across the project lifecycle
Provide senior guidance, coaching and oversight to Contracts Engineers/Specialists
Deliver contract awareness and commercial training to strengthen capability across the project team
Requirements
Degree in Business Administration, Quantity Surveying, Law, Project Management, Supply Chain, or similar discipline although relevant experience will also be considered
Previous experience in a senior contracts / commercial role within the oil & gas sector
Background in contract management (Subsea and/or Civil), including high‑value, high‑risk agreements
Proven experience in subcontract management and negotiation
Good understanding of international and local compliance frameworks, including HSE standards
Knowledge of industry‑specific regulations and agreements (JOA, PSA, Service Agreements, local content requirements)
Experience identifying, assessing and mitigating commercial, environmental and financial risks
Skilled in managing multinational stakeholders and working in culturally diverse environments
Good communication, presentation, leadership and interpersonal skills
Experience supporting project cost control, commercial reporting and efficient work methods
