Job Description:

We are seeking a technically strong and commercially astute Senior Construction Liability Underwriter to join a growing underwriting team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in developing and managing a profitable construction-focused liability portfolio across Employers’ Liability, Public Liability and Contractors Combined risks. This role offers real autonomy, strong broker exposure, and the chance to contribute to strategic portfolio growth within a dynamic and ambitious underwriting environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Underwrite new and renewal EL / PL / Contractors Combined construction risks
  • Apply underwriting appetite and pricing discipline to ensure profitability
  • Deliver growth in line with loss ratio and GWP targets
  • Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends or corrective actions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regional and national brokers
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities within target construction sectors
  • Provide technical referral support where required
  • Contribute to underwriting guidelines and product development initiatives
  • Maintain compliant, audit-ready underwriting files

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience underwriting UK construction liability risks
  • Strong knowledge of construction trades and associated liability exposures
  • Experience underwriting Employers’ Liability and Public Liability business
  • Proven track record of operating within underwriting authority
  • Demonstrated ability to build broker relationships and drive new business
  • Strong analytical skills and confident decision-making capability
  • Commercially focused with a disciplined underwriting approach
