Job Description:

Lawes Consulting Group is proud to be working with a leading global (Re)insurer specialising in Construction & Engineering risks. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join a respected team, playing a key role in assessing and managing complex risks while supporting international growth and collaboration.

Job Responsibility:

Review and underwrite new business based on risk assessment and market data
negotiate terms with brokers and clients to optimise profitability
ensure all underwriting decisions follow internal policies and procedures
work closely with global teams to align processes and maintain documentation
support junior underwriters through knowledge sharing and peer reviews
uphold compliance standards and contribute to regulatory requirements
strengthen and maintain broker and client relationships
contribute to business planning and new product development
collaborate with internal teams (Actuarial, Legal, Compliance, etc.)
promote brand presence through marketing and relationship-building efforts

Requirements:

10+ years in underwriting or related insurance experience, preferably in Construction & Engineering
progressing toward or holding CII qualification
strong understanding of underwriting practices and market dynamics
strong analytical and decision-making skills
excellent written and verbal communication
high attention to detail and accuracy
proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
team player with strong interpersonal skills
able to prioritise, multitask, and perform under pressure
proactive, self-driven, and customer-focused
