Kyle Clarke with Robert Half is looking for a highly skilled Senior Construction Accountant for a client in Buffalo, NY. This role is pivotal in managing financial operations for construction projects, ensuring precision in cost tracking, budget analysis, and compliance. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers and leadership to provide clear financial insights throughout every stage of development.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee full-cycle construction accounting, including tracking costs and ensuring accurate job costing
  • Conduct detailed budget-to-actual analyses to identify and address variances effectively
  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor financial progress and ensure adherence to project budgets
  • Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements to maintain accurate financial records
  • Manage month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Provide financial oversight for commercial real estate and construction projects, ensuring cost control and efficiency

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction accounting or a related field
  • Proficiency in managing month-end close processes and general ledger maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations
  • Experience with cost tracking and financial oversight in commercial construction or real estate projects
  • Familiarity with budget analysis and variance reporting
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers and leadership teams
