This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.
Job Responsibility:
Develop robust employee engagement plans, including manager programming, to ensure all employees are aligned with Spirit Defense business goals and objectives
Develop external programming to meaningfully support business development activities, including but not limited to trade shows, speaking engagements, media relations, and other creative approaches
Provide communications support and recommendations to ensure the effectiveness of Spirit Defense compliance initiatives
Lead planning, coordination, execution, and measurement of results for communications initiatives
Manage Spirit Defense digital platforms (website, social media)
Budget and vendor management responsibilities as required
Ability to travel at a projected rate of 10% and work flexible hours as business needs dictate
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
10+ years of related experience developing and implementing communications plans and campaigns
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Ability to manage multiple, high-priority projects simultaneously
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
Successful candidates must be able to secure Program access approval
Nice to have:
Master’s Degree
Experience in high-level externally focused business and/or political roles with a proven track record in strategic planning and execution
Sound judgment in managing high-profile situations and leading strategically complex, high-impact projects
Prior experience working in a large, global company with a diverse employee population
Background in Aerospace, Military, and/or Manufacturing
Self-starter that is driven and takes initiative
Ability to operate with autonomy
Prior experience in roles such as Communications Specialist, Communications Manager, Public Information Officer, Public Affairs Officer, Marketing Manager, etc.
