The Senior Communications Officer will play a key role in telling the story of Everton in the Community and will support the delivery of high-quality, engaging communications that raise awareness of the charity’s impact whilst protecting and enhancing its reputation. As well as elevating the profile of Everton in the Community in the local, national and international media, the successful candidate will need to be passionate about using their skills to help support fundraising initiatives, funding development and charity campaigns.
Job Responsibility:
Support the Communications team in the delivery of the communications strategy
Drive positive media coverage through the creation of materials, press releases and online content
Proactively seek out media opportunities to elevate the charity’s strategic objectives and profile building for the CEO and Executive team
Support with copywriting and content for all media, marketing and corporate collateral across the charity including website stories, social media and newsletters
Build a database of relevant contacts throughout local, national and international media
Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Knowledge and experience of working in the charity sector and/or within a professional sports organisation
Understanding of new media technologies
Experience working in a communications, PR, or media role
Degree (or equivalent) in a PR or Communications-related discipline
Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
Understanding of media relations and the current landscape
Experience creating content for digital and social media platforms
Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
Confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders such as key funders (Steve Morgan Foundation and Premier League), MPs and Everton Football Club
