Job Description

This is more than a traditional underwriting role. You’ll play a key part in evaluating complex risks, building long-term broker relationships, and contributing to a growing, forward-thinking organization where your impact is visible and valued.

Job Responsibility

  • Risk Evaluation: Assess and underwrite complex commercial risks, analyzing COPE data, operations, and coverage structures in collaboration with brokers and clients
  • Policy Structuring: Develop tailored policy solutions including renewals, endorsements, exclusions, and warranties
  • Pricing Strategy: Determine competitive and accurate pricing aligned with market conditions and risk exposure
  • Relationship Management: Build strong partnerships with brokers and clients, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with actuarial and claims teams to refine underwriting strategies and ensure compliance

Requirements

  • 6–7+ years of experience in commercial underwriting
  • General Insurance License (Level 1 or 2), or willingness to obtain within a short timeframe
  • Post-secondary education and/or CIP designation considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance markets and underwriting principles
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Confident working with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong analytical capabilities
