Job Description

The Senior Commercial Officer will support the Senior Commercial Manager as a member of the vibrant and highly capable Commercial team within the Simulation and Training business sector, managing and delivering a portfolio of contracts and bids to a range of domestic customers in a dynamic commercial environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting the Commercial team on a wide range of contracts, projects and campaigns
  • Acting in a customer facing role, resolving queries. maintaining and building on an enduring relationship
  • Actively participating in Bid Teams to prepare Bid and Contract materials including the preparation and presentation of commercial bid reviews, ensuring the necessary approvals are obtained in accordance with appropriate governance

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a commercial function
  • In depth professional knowledge of Commercial principles, techniques and practices with an understanding of how Commercial roles fit into an organisation as a whole
  • 3 years plus commercial experience, ideally in both UK and export defence environments

  • Produce detailed credit memos and written analyses that assess business viability, interpret financing needs, identify key risk factors, and deliver a clear, well-supported credit recommendation
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis — including trend analysis, ratio analysis, and financial spreading — on companies with complex structures, including those with foreign subsidiaries or parent organizations
  • Assess the repayment capacity of individuals, guarantors, and co-borrowers through analysis of cash flow statements, tax returns, and personal financial statements
