Job Description

Cullum Mechanical is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our Columbia team. This position is intended for technicians experienced with large commercial and industrial HVAC equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, and large rooftop units. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting ability and the experience to independently diagnose complex system issues, communicate solutions with customers, and manage service calls with minimal supervision.

Job Responsibility

  • Diagnose and repair commercial and industrial HVAC systems
  • Service and maintain chillers, RTUs, pumps, and associated equipment
  • Install and replace HVAC components, motors, wiring, and controls
  • Program and start-up HVAC equipment, thermostats, and VFDs
  • Read wiring diagrams, installation manuals, and system documentation
  • Provide repair recommendations and communicate solutions with customers
  • Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and equipment
  • Complete service documentation using company mobile software
  • Mentor junior technicians and apprentices as needed
  • Represent Cullum Mechanical professionally at all job sites

Requirements

  • 10+ years commercial / industrial HVAC service experience preferred
  • Strong experience with chillers and large commercial equipment
  • EPA Universal Certification required
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with customers
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Climb ladders and work at heights
  • Stand, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed
  • Ability to pass drug screening

  • Interpret and work from commercial blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to ensure compliant and effective repairs

  • Provide professional and clear communication to facility managers, building owners, and engineers regarding system status, complex repair options, and system efficiency recommendations
