We are looking for a Senior Commercial Finance Manager to join us at Huws Gray Group. This role is full time and can be a hybrid position depending on location. If you’re in the trade or have ever done DIY, you’ve probably heard of the Huws Gray Group! We are made up of a number of brands, including Huws Gray, Hirebase, Civils & Lintels, The Timber Group, PDM, NDI and Anglia Tool Centre to name a few. Up and down the UK, our branches and depots are serving and supporting our local communities with all their building needs, but we couldn’t do this without the right people, so why not join us? The Senior Commercial Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring that working capital is optimally deployed within the business, in particular by overseeing the stock holding and rebates receivable balance. The role focuses predominantly on the Merchanting division (the largest Group division) but also has responsibility for promoting best practice across the wider Group. To succeed in this role, it will be imperative to develop strong working relationships with the Category Management Team, the Commercial Team and the Branch Operations Network. The successful candidate will provide insights and support to enable these colleagues to achieve critical KPIs in their specific area, whilst also being prepared to provide robust challenge when expectations have not been met. The role sits within the Commercial Finance Team reporting into the Director of Commercial Finance and has line management responsibility for 3 analysts.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensuring working capital is optimally deployed within the business
  • Overseeing the stock holding and rebates receivable balance
  • Focus on the Merchanting division
  • Promoting best practice across the wider Group
  • Developing strong working relationships with the Category Management Team, the Commercial Team and the Branch Operations Network
  • Providing insights and support to enable colleagues to achieve critical KPIs
  • Providing robust challenge when expectations have not been met
  • Line management responsibility for 3 analysts
  • Category Management - monitoring and challenging category performance, preparing analysis for weekly trading meetings
  • Commercial Income - ensuring supplier rebates and other monies are accurately reflected in the P&L, regularly reviewing the rebate debtor to maximise the Groups working capital position
  • Inventory - contributing to the Groups optimisation of working capital by supporting Operations in ensuring branches hold the optimum level of stock
  • Provide ad-hoc finance support to Group Commercial and Group Procurement Director's and their direct reports

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative background
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in financial modelling, analysis and forecasting
  • Previous line management experience
  • Hold a recognised finance qualification or have significant experience
