Job Description

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies. We're looking for a business-minded Senior Commercial Counsel, with deep experience drafting and negotiating customer agreements with leading global and domestic organizations. This legal team member will be a key partner and liaison to other impacted Fivetran departments and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a high impact individual contributor who brings deep legal expertise, sound business judgment, and the ability to operate independently on complex commercial matters.

Job Responsibility

  • Review, revise and negotiate commercial contracts, including customer paper agreements
  • Serve as one of the designated legal contacts on the commercial legal team to Fivetran's enterprise sales team, including sales team education, training and communications related to any changes to customer agreements
  • Serve as one of the primary legal contacts on the commercial legal team, providing strategic guidance and oversight on contracting, enablement, and process improvement initiatives
  • Create and update commercial legal team playbooks to help drive alignment with internal stakeholders
  • Own and improve key template documents, including periodic revisions and improvements, and help operationalize templates into the contracts management and automation tool
  • Liaise with Fivetran's product team to understand how product updates may impact existing or new customer agreements
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for commercial contract lifecycle management, ensuring efficient review, negotiation, and approval processes
  • Stay abreast of evolving legal trends and industry best practices in the SaaS and data privacy space
  • Complete other special projects given your interest areas and the needs of a rapidly scaling company and team

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in negotiating commercial contracts at high-growth technology companies
  • demonstrated experience and interest in data and privacy
  • JD and admitted to practice in at least one jurisdiction
  • eligibility to become a registered in-house counsel in either California or Colorado preferred
  • experience using AI tools (such as Claude or similar) to enhance legal workflow efficiency
