The Senior Combat and Systems Engineer is responsible for professionally and efficiently executing work in support of client taskings in the field of Combat and Systems Engineering. Additionally, this role will include developing courseware and providing in-person instruction to adults in a classroom environment.
Job Responsibility:
Provides Combat and Systems engineering advice and support to both internal and external clients demands
Trains, directs, and supports the work of team members allocated to engineering taskings
Develops and maintains courseware and instructional technologies in support of client training requirements
Presents instructional Combat Systems Engineering material in a classroom environment, in accordance with client requirements
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
reviewing professional publications
establishing personal networks
and/or participating in professional societies
Contributes technical specialist expertise, or practical knowledge, to internal discussions, R&D projects and billable tasks
As required, provides mentoring, training and guidance to junior engineers and technologists within BMT
Maintains a high level of knowledge and understanding of naval systems design rules and the implications of their application on ship and submarine design
Conducts technical assurance/review activities to ensure deliverables meet client requirements
Application of Combat Systems engineering principles, regulations, and standards to various applications
Conduct and leading engineering assessments, feasibility studies and technical investigations
Support various projects in a Combat Systems engineering capacity in combat and military systems, cybersecurity, naval systems and platforms, and others
Requirements:
Degree in Engineering
Minimum 10 years of experience in Combat and Systems Engineering
Previous experience as an instructor
Strong problem-solving skill and organizational abilities
Skilled in written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
Eligible for a Canadian security clearance
Nice to have:
Previous Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) experience, preferably as a Naval Combat Systems Engineering department head
Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer
Detailed knowledge and experience in the operation of naval systems
Experience in the in-service support of naval systems and/or engineering design
Experience in the development and use of technical studies and drawings
An understanding of specifications for government and commercial vessels
Experience in systems integration, ship construction and/or repair
