PhyNet Network Health group is responsible for new Network Design Operational Implementation, Engineering and support various 1st party groups in Microsoft and this team is critical to the success of Microsoft, as services are rapidly growing and so is the need for an increasingly reliant network.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario
Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform
Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI)
Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items
Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate
Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale
Requirements:
Technical experience in network design, development, and automation
OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automation
OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automation
OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
Microsoft Cloud Background Check
Experience delivering network designs into production and experience with live site accountability for a network
Experience in networking, scripting, and software development
Familiarity/hands on experience with any network device operating systems (Sonic, Arista, Cisco, Juniper)
Cisco CCNA (or equivalent) and experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and Windows servers
Writing automation in languages such as Python, Powershell or C#
Writing scripts that use REST APIs, Syslog, xml, SNMP, and other Network Management Systems
Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals along with a basic understanding of IP networking MPLS, BGP, ISIS, OSPF and Anycast routing
