Job Description:

ICON plc is seeking an experienced Senior Clinical System Designer to join our Clinical Data Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for end‑to‑end Electronic Data Capture (EDC) study build activities within Medidata Rave. You will ensure high‑quality database design, development of data validation rules, and implementation of complex custom functions to support successful clinical trials.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the design, development, and configuration of EDC systems using Medidata Rave Architect
  • Program data validations, including edit checks, derivations, dynamics, and custom functions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to study requirements
  • Oversee complete eCRF build activities, ensuring database readiness for study start‑up
  • Develop, test, and deploy edit checks and custom functions to support protocol‑specific reporting and workflow
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Clinical Data Managers, Statisticians, Clinical Operations, etc.) to align database design with study needs
  • Conduct quality control checks and resolve issues identified during study build and UAT phases
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior team members in EDC design and programming
  • Support process improvements and contribute to ICON’s best‑practice standards in system development

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands‑on EDC development experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Strong proficiency with Medidata Rave Architect, including eCRF design, edit check programming, and custom function development
  • Medidata Rave Builder Certification is highly desirable
  • C# programming knowledge or experience is a plus
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple study responsibilities
