This role will initially be offered at Band 2. Upon successful completion of competencies, it will progress to Band 3. Please note we do not provide sponsorship for Band 2 positions. As a support worker you'll be at the very heart of everything - it's a vital role that keeps things running smoothly. You'll support patients on their journey through their care, sharing their experiences and making a difference. Through a structured training package you will receive both on-the-job and classroom training. We can support you to become an accomplished Band 3 Support Worker within approximately 3 months. Please note, a driving licence and access to a vehicle are required, as you'll visit patients and families in community settings.
Job Responsibility:
Assist qualified nurses and practitioners in delivering patient care
Help with personal hygiene, wound dressing, and removal
Support nutritional needs, including oral and tube feeding
Take and report physiological observations
Escort patients between departments
Provide family support and communication
Requirements:
GCSE A-C English & Maths or equivalent
Vocational Award Level 2 in Health
To have or be committed to undertaking & completing a Vocational Award Level 3 in Health
Committed to completing competency packages as per clinical area
To have experience in a Care or Health & Social Care environment within a hospital or community setting
Worked in a customer facing environment
Knowledge of Health & Safety and maintaining a safe environment
Knowledge of Safeguarding children or young adults
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Infection Control principles
Basic IT skills which include competency at using Word and email and commitment to learning advanced IT skills
Ability to work with children, young people, their families and carers
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Ability to show initiative and take on own responsibility and accountability and work independently
Ability to prioritise workload and own time
Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations
Willingness to work flexibly in approach and working hours/pattern
Display a non-judgmental attitude towards children / families / carers / colleagues
Respectful attitude for individuals and co-workers
Ability to take part in personal development reviews
Ability to accept instructions & supervision and undertake delegated tasks
Driving licence and access to a vehicle
Nice to have:

Advanced IT skills ie Level 2 IT qualification

Previously worked in a flexible working pattern environment
Compliance with policies and procedures in reference to Equality and Diversity
