This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Client Manager to join a large, well-established accountancy practice in Reading, Berkshire. The role blends client ownership, technical oversight and advisory input, making it ideal for a technically strong practice professional looking to operate at a senior level within public practice. This role offers a balance of client-facing leadership and technical influence, rather than purely day-to-day portfolio management.
Job Responsibility:
Managing and overseeing a portfolio of SMEs, owner-managed businesses and more complex entities
Acting as a senior point of contact for clients, providing proactive, commercially focused advice
Reviewing and finalising statutory accounts, including complex and higher-risk assignments
Providing technical input and guidance on UK GAAP (including FRS 102), disclosures and accounting treatments
Supporting corporation tax and accounting compliance, liaising with tax specialists where required
Acting as a technical escalation point for Client Managers and senior team members
Supporting advisory projects and complex client work
Ensuring consistent technical quality and compliance across assignments
Mentoring, reviewing and developing junior and senior colleagues
Contributing to technical training, best practice and process improvement
Working closely with Partners and senior leadership on complex engagements
Requirements:
ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
Significant experience within a UK accountancy practice
Strong technical knowledge across statutory accounts and UK GAAP (FRS 102)
Confident reviewing complex accounts and advising on technical matters
Enjoy mentoring and developing colleagues
Commercially aware and comfortable supporting advisory discussions
Excellent attention to detail and high technical standards
Motivated to progress into senior management or leadership roles
