This is a dual Estimator / Project Manager position. The primary focus is leading the estimating function to ensure competitive, accurate, and timely submissions. Once projects are awarded, the role transitions into active project oversight and coordination. You will work closely with the Operations Manager and leadership team to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze drawings and specifications
Understand contractual terms and conditions
Review tenders and provide a bid summary to the Operations Team for bid/no-bid reviews
Develop project estimates and project timelines
Attend pre-tender meetings and liaise with owners, engineers, and sub-contractors
Have a basic understanding of civil construction & forestry activities
Maintain working documents supporting estimate figures and supplier pricing
Manage and support tenders, budgets, project schedules, progress, and monthly reports
Maintain a culture that promotes safety, quality, and environmental compliance
Delegate project tasks appropriately to junior staff
Manage subcontractor selection and administrative processes
Oversee internal and external project reporting
Manage relationships with clients and stakeholders
Perform risk management to minimize project risks
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and third parties
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Engineering Degree, technical diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience (PMP/PRINCE II considered an asset)
Minimum two years' experience in civil construction and/or forestry
Demonstrated experience preparing, tendering, evaluating, and implementing contract bids
Strong understanding of estimating and project management methodologies
Ability to read and interpret construction documents, contracts, drawings, and specifications
Familiarity with relevant construction codes, standards, and practices
Familiarity with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) policies and processes is considered an asset
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, cost control programs, Heavy Bid, CRM, etc.
Strong knowledge of quantity takeoffs, subtrade procurement, pricing strategy, and bid-closing procedures
Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
Strong attention to detail and time management
Passion for developing people and teams
Strong understanding and commitment to First Nations culture, history, and community development
Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Nice to have:
PMP/PRINCE II considered an asset
Familiarity with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) policies and processes is considered an asset
