Job Description

If you're a Civil Engineer with experience in flood risk management, drainage or water infrastructure, this is an opportunity to work on projects that directly improve the environment and protect communities from future flooding. You'll join a growing team delivering flood resilience and water management schemes across the UK, working on projects from early feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.

Job Responsibility

  • Leading the development and delivery of flood management and water engineering designs
  • Producing and reviewing feasibility studies, appraisal reports and technical assessments
  • Developing innovative engineering solutions and presenting options to clients and stakeholders
  • Preparing and checking design calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Managing project programmes, resources and budgets
  • Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Supporting bid submissions and business development activities
  • Undertaking site inspections, surveys and contractor supervision when required
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to engineers within the team

Requirements

  • Chartered Engineer or approaching Chartership
  • experience delivering flood risk management, drainage, water or civil infrastructure projects within a consultancy or engineering environment
  • comfortable producing technically sound engineering solutions, managing project delivery and working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams
  • experience in flood management design, feasibility studies, project management and relevant industry standards will be highly advantageous
  • strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Lead the civil design of municipal water and wastewater projects across the UK, covering feasibility, optioneering, concept, outline and detailed design across major programmes (e.g. AMP8, WINEP, SROs, etc)
  • Lead and support on the civil aspects of feasibility, optioneering, design and delivery of flood risk and erosion risk management and sustainable drainage systems
  • Set and uphold the civil design approach for treatment work: in-house standards (in line with water industry asset standards), checking, and consistency of outputs across projects and teams
  • Fulfil Designer duties under CDM 2015, leading design risk management within the civil scope and, where appointed, undertaking Principal Designer responsibilities in support of the Design Manager during the pre-construction phase
  • Take ownership of the civil scope within multidisciplinary delivery, driving clear decisions on operability, maintainability, access, and whole-life performance
  • Ensuring designs comply with CESWI, UK regulations and client standards
  • lead design reviews, approve deliverables, and uphold safety, sustainability and BIM requirements throughout the project lifecycle
